Privacy Policy
What we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Short version: your uploads are private by default, never used to train AI models, and you can export or delete your data at any time.

1.Who we are
TurboStudy (“TurboStudy”, “we”, “us”) is an exam-preparation service. You upload your class materials, and TurboStudy turns them into notes, flashcards, quizzes and practice exams, then estimates how ready you are for your exams.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website, apps and services (the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email us at privacy@turbostudy.app.
2.Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, your password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), your display name and optional profile details such as education level, study goals, time zone and daily study target. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider. If you join through a referral link, we record who referred you.
- Uploaded materials. The files and text you add — lecture slides, PDFs, documents, notes, photos of notes and lecture recordings — and the content we generate from them, such as notes, flashcards, quizzes, practice exams, transcripts and tutor conversations.
- Study activity. How you use study features: quiz answers and scores, flashcard reviews, study sessions, exam dates, topic mastery, Exam Readiness Scores and streaks.
- Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe shares limited billing details with us, such as your plan, billing period, subscription status and payment history.
- Usage analytics. Basic information about how the Service is used, such as pages viewed and features used. See Cookies and analytics for how your consent choice affects this.
- Device and log data. Our servers automatically record technical information such as IP address, browser type and request times. We use it to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- What you send us. Messages to support and optional feedback, such as the reason you give when cancelling a subscription.
3.How we use your information
- To provide the Service — create your account, store your materials and let you access them on your devices.
- To generate your study materials — process your uploads to create notes, flashcards, quizzes, practice exams, transcripts and tutor answers.
- To personalize your studying — calculate topic mastery and your Exam Readiness Score, recommend what to study next, and send the reminders you've turned on.
- To handle billing — manage subscriptions, trials, plan changes and receipts.
- To communicate with you — send service emails (like sign-in links, billing receipts and important changes) and, if you choose, study reminders and product updates. You can change email preferences in Settings.
- To improve TurboStudy — understand, in aggregate, which features are used and where things go wrong. We use aggregated or de-identified usage data for this, not the contents of your materials.
- To keep TurboStudy safe — detect and prevent fraud, abuse and violations of our Terms, and meet our legal obligations.
4.Your uploaded materials
- Private by default. Only you can access your uploaded materials and the study content generated from them. If you choose to share a quiz with a public link, anyone with that link can view that quiz. You can stop sharing at any time.
- Never used to train AI models. We do not use your uploaded materials, or the study content generated from them, to train AI models. We don't use them for purposes unrelated to providing the Service to you without your explicit permission.
- AI processing. To generate study content, we send the relevant parts of your materials to our AI processing provider and, for lecture recordings, to our transcription provider. They process this content on our behalf to provide the Service and are not permitted to use it to train their models.
- Limited access by our team. We don't look at your materials except when needed to give you support you've asked for, to investigate abuse or a security issue, or when required by law.
7.How long we keep information
- While your account is open, we keep your materials and study history. If a paid subscription ends, we keep them so it's easy to pick up where you left off — your account simply returns to the Free plan.
- Files you delete are removed from your account and from our file storage, along with the notes generated from them. Flashcards and quizzes you already made stay in the course until you delete the course or your account.
- When you delete your account, we delete your uploaded files and study data. Deleting your account also cancels any active subscription.
- Backups may keep copies for a limited time until they rotate out on their regular schedule.
- Records we're required to keep, such as billing and tax records, are kept for as long as the law requires.
8.Your rights and choices
- Export your data — download a copy of your data from Settings.
- Correct your information — update your profile in Settings.
- Delete files — delete any upload at any time, or delete a whole course along with its files and everything generated from them.
- Delete your account — permanently delete your account and data in Settings.
- Email preferences — turn reminders and product emails on or off in Settings. Service emails, such as billing receipts, are still sent.
- Analytics — change your cookie choice at any time.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, the UK or California), you may have additional rights, such as the right to object to or restrict certain processing, or to complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, email privacy@turbostudy.app. We'll respond within the time the law requires, and we won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
9.Children and teens
TurboStudy is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are 13 to 17, you need permission from a parent or guardian where the law where you live requires it. If your country sets a higher minimum age for using online services without parental consent, that age applies.
If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us at privacy@turbostudy.app and we'll delete it.
10.Security
We use safeguards designed to protect your information, including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all connections to TurboStudy.
- Private file storage — your uploads aren't publicly accessible, and files are served through short-lived signed URLs.
- Access controls that keep each account's data separate, and limited, logged staff access.
- Payments handled by Stripe, so card details never touch our servers.
No system is 100% secure. If a security incident affects your personal information, we'll notify you as required by law.
11.International transfers
TurboStudy and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. When we transfer personal information across borders, we use the safeguards required by applicable law, such as standard contractual clauses.
12.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
