Turn lecture recordings into transcripts, notes and quizzes
A recording is only useful if you can find things in it. Upload lecture audio and TurboStudy transcribes it with timestamps, then turns the transcript into notes, flashcards and quizzes — each linked back to the moment in the lecture it came from. Transcription is included with Premium and Pro.

What actually works
Evidence-informed study advice you can use with or without TurboStudy.
Before you record: ask, and set up well
Many schools and instructors have rules about recording lectures, and some only allow it as an accessibility accommodation. Check the policy or ask the instructor first.
- Sit closer to the front, or near a speaker if the room uses a microphone.
- Put your phone on a soft surface so typing and bumps don't drown out the lecturer.
- Start recording a minute early so you catch announcements about exams and assignments.
A transcript is raw material, not notes
An hour of lecture turns into thousands of words of transcript, full of repetition, asides and half-finished sentences. Reading the whole thing back can take nearly as long as the lecture itself. Use the transcript as a source for structured notes, and jump to the timestamp only when a point is unclear.
Recordings don't replace attending
It's tempting to skip class “because it's recorded”, but in practice recordings often pile up unwatched. Attending gives you the chance to ask questions, notice emphasis and stay on schedule. Treat the recording as a backup and a review tool, not a substitute.
Re-listen strategically
Don't replay entire lectures. Take a quiz on the lecture first; for each question you miss, jump to the timestamped section it came from and listen to just those few minutes. You'll spend minutes reviewing instead of hours.

Frequently asked questions
Is lecture transcription free?
Transcription is a Premium feature (300 minutes a month, up to 2 hours per recording). Pro includes 1,500 minutes a month and recordings up to 4 hours.
What audio formats can I upload?

Is it legal to record my lectures?
It depends on your school, your instructor and where you are. Check your institution's policy or ask your instructor before recording.
Can I search or jump to a part of the lecture?
Yes. Notes, flashcards and quiz questions made from a recording keep the timestamp they came from, so you can go straight to that moment.
